Surgery Room Renovation
Year: 2025
Purpose: When equipment fails, a shelter’s mission hits a bottleneck. To eliminate the cost and delay of outsourcing routine procedures, we teamed up with Blue Pearl Cares for a total surgical room renovation. With new machinery now operational, BHS has restored its ability to perform vital spay/neuter and life-saving procedures under its own roof – keeping its promise to every animal in its care.

How does the organization identify which projects to fund?
We work in close, ongoing consultation with the Bahamas Humane Society (BHS) and other animal charities to identify their most urgent needs. By understanding their operational bottlenecks -such as the previous lack of functional surgical equipment- we ensure that every grant targets a specific issue that will have the greatest immediate impact on animal welfare.
How much of the funding goes toward overhead and planning?
While every organization has basic operational costs, a key greatest strength is our efficiency. 100% of our team is comprised of volunteers, meaning our salary expense is zero. This unique structure allows us to direct the maximum possible amount of every donation straight to the projects that help the animals in The Bahamas.
What projects are currently in development?
We are constantly evaluating new opportunities to improve the BHS facilities and capabilities and assist other animal charities in The Bahamas.

How do you ensure that grant funds are used as intended?
Accountability is a cornerstone of our organization. We maintain a robust governance structure that includes staying in close contact with our grantees throughout the entire lifecycle of a project. By actively monitoring the progress and the specific use of funds from start to finish, we ensure that every donation is used strictly for its intended purpose.
Do you only provide grants to BHS?
While our primary focus includes support for BHS, our mission is to support the broader landscape of animal welfare in The Bahamas. We seek opportunities to use funds raised to partner with any registered animal charity in The Bahamas where a strategic grant can significantly improve their capacity to care for animals in need.
